Novelling November

Well, it has crept up fast, and it's that time of year again NanoWriMo time. Yes I have been crafting things up but my internet has been at half speed for some mysterious reason so uploading big photos has been a no go. But I promise I'll get some posts up soon. I just hosted a fun party on the weekend with my brother B, and was pleased how all my crafty wee details turned out. I dressed as Moaning Myrtle and even did the voice on occasion. I think it became very obvious to all at the party that my dream job would be doing set designs for movies (as well as writing of course).

Sooo as well as having to study for my English exam I have begun writing my Novel for Nanowrimo. I will post my progress on here as I go along... I may even post parts of the book, who knows.
Synopsis
The Fate of the Merror Three
Ill-fated from birth, the Merror girls are sent packing to the medieval tidal island of Mont Nomoore. Spilt and forced to burden three unconventional families with their woeful lives, things couldn't get any worse. However, with the help of a debaucherous feline, the girls were reunited and became a force to be reckoned with.

I've currently written only 337 words, which is a good part of my prologue. I must continue tidying from after my party because I have a flat inspection tomorrow. And then of course there is study. But I hope to reach 2000ish words tonight. Can you believe that collectively around the globe 80,000+ words have already been written!?!

Craft posts up soon x

The Pinchers

Inspired by this wee number from bed bath n table...

I decided to make my own!

Found some material, two types

Cut it to the size I wanted

Then sewed down the sides of each individually...

...to make two separate bags

I then sewed the bottom corners of the bags together

Then folded down the top and sewed along the edge.

I marked with chalk where the draw-string would come out

Using the buttonhole setting on my machine I sewed two places for where the string would exit

I cut down the middle of each to make the holes

Then I placed the drawstring around the neck of the bag and through the holes.

Making another fold in the neck, I covered the drawstring and pinned it out of the way, in order to sew the neck down without catching the string.

I sewed along the edge

And tested that it worked!

I then knotted the string on edge side so it wouldn't come undone.

Next I sewed on a loop of ribbon. This is so you can hang the bag at the washing line!

Next I embroidered this fancy doily type thing my friend Felicity gave me. It reads 'Pinces à linges' which is French for Clothes Pegs.

I hand-stitched this onto the bag

It was all finished!

I then filled it with pegs...

...and tested it out!

Don't forget to write!

'Don't forget to write' is an art project currently on in the library at University. I had seen the posters advertising it but did not really know what it was until David told me more about it. He said he'd written a few letters for it. So, being the keen letter writer I am, I decided to poke about.

It actually took me a while to find where it was hiding in the library.

I sat down and there were lots of different letter sets to choose from! And even real ink quills!

I wrote out my letter, trying to sound inspiring...

Then posted it and took one in return...

This was it:

It was about biking, which was awesome because I biked to Uni that very day!

It has inspired me to stop being so lazy and start writing even more letters, cause god knows I've got heaps of writing paper!

If you are at Uni, you should go check it out too.
But be quick cause it's only on until the end of Thursday.
